The Top 5 Scariest Moments, Places, and Things in Poptropica

Hey guys, BT here! Now, I’ve taken another look at Poptropica- and let’s face it- some small parts are scary… T_T In honor of Halloween, here are the top 5 scariest moments in Poptropica…

5) The Weeping Angel Statue

Location: Haunted House

Why it’s freaky: Those who watch Doctor Who will flinch at the sight of this thing. I never watched it, but in the episode, these statues supposedly come to life and come after you or something. Something about looking at it… and the fact that you shouldn’t blink. Although this statue is harmless, it’s still gives off the heebie-jeebies.

4) The Chupacabra

Location: Cryptids Island

Why it’s freaky: So you’ve captured the Chupacabra. That’s great. You push the crate concealing the beast towards the truck when all of a sudden, BAM! The Chupacabra breaks out of the crate and runs off, sound included. This can make you jump.

3) The Cemetary Labyrinth

Location: Ghost Story Island

Why it’s freaky: Welcome to the Cemetary Labyrinth, a maze concealed in darkness. Who knows what could be around the corner? With frogs jumping, ravens going from one perch to another, something rustling in the bushes, and a skeleton of a bird lurking in the maze, this place has your imagination going places.

2) “Are you looking for someone?”

Location: Ghost Story Island

Why it’s freaky: We all know that’s sound’s rare in Poptropica, but what about voice acting? Only 3 islands have voice acting, and one of them occurs in the creepiest way. Just as you are looking through the telescope, a woman’s voice asks “Are you looking for someone?” Since you don’t expect it and you’re just surprised, for that brief second, you think somebody’s in your room. But then it’s Fiona. Why?

1) The Jersey Devil

Location: Cryptids Island

Why it’s freaky: Okay, let’s face it. First, you enter a creepy New Jersey wood. Then you end up in front of some weird gates who’s house number is 669, but the 9 is turned upside down, so it’s really “666” (the number of the devil- and I thought 1313 was a creepy number!). Then you explore a creepy house until you find a raccoon and a grappling hook. Just as you are to exit, who’s at the window? The Jersey Devil! Just everything about this scenario is just plain wrong.

So that’s the five scariest moments, places, and things in Poptropica! If you have any more scary moments, let me know in the comments!

BT out!

(Oh my gosh, I really need to stop making pointless posts like this this often… and eventually make a post that has a point…)

Pop Picture Contest #14

Note: This post is sticky.  Scroll down to see more posts.

Edit: Congratulations to Samwow5 for guessing correctly!  The picture is from Early Poptropica Island.  Check out the Pop Picture Contest page to see his name along with a link to his blog.

It is once again time for you to try and guess the answer to my last minute, not very good Pop Picture Contest!  I think this one is pretty obvious, but maybe it will finally be the one that you don’t guess right away.  And since Halloween is right around the corner, I thought something that was oozing green slime might be just the thing to get you into the spooky spirit!

Green slime+a dark place=spooky.

Any guesses?

If you have no idea what on earth I’ve been talking about, just go to the Pop Picture Contest page where you can find all you need to know, plus the names of recent winners with links to their blogs!

Remember, only one guess per person!  So make sure that your first guess is what you want it to be.  It’s not fair to other people if you guess more than once, so, like I said, make sure that your first guess is what you want it to be.

Happy early Halloween, you guys, and good luck guessing! 😀

Oh, the Leg Bone’s Connected to the Hip Bone…

…And that’s the only part of that song that I know.  …I don’t even know if I got that part right…  Oh, well.

There’s a new costume/power available just in time for Halloween in the Poptropica Store!  Get ready to start singing “the leg bone’s connected to the hip bone” with me when you wear the Skeleton Power.

As you can see from the picture above, there are two buttons that you can press.  The first one is the “I’m A Skeleton” button.  If you press that, you turn into a skeleton.  I know, surprising, right?

A skeleton with eyelashes… Somehow that doesn’t fit.

The second button is the “I See Skeletons” button.  That one will turn everyone around you into a skeleton.

There’s only one problem…  I couldn’t find a way to undo the “I’m A Skeleton” part, so I clicked on the customize button and clicked on my skull and skeleton body-suit thing, and this is what I was left with…

Uh… Where’s my hair?

Before I leave to fix this costume crisis that I have on my hands, I just wanted to let you know about a small little change in the Poptropica Store.  All the Halloween-related costumes have been moved to the front of the store.  So, instead of seeing a baby costume as the first thing in the line of costumes, you’ll see something like the Bride of Frankenstein or the Swamp Monster costumes toward the front, instead.  It’s probably only temporary for Halloween, though.

Well, I’m off to go see if I can find my hair.  I hope you have more luck with the Skeleton Power than I did!

Out-of-This-World Walkthrough, Villainous Island for Everyone, 500,000,000 Poptropicans, and a Sweet Info Page

As you can tell by the title, we have a lot to talk about!

First off, you may be familiar with the app for Poptropica, it’s called the Poptropica: Official Tips and Tricks app.  It’s basically an app with guides on it.  (Although, why would you use that when you have sites like this with tons of guides on them just a click away?)

A new guide has been added to it, hence the “Out-of-This-World Walkthrough” part of this post’s title.  Any guesses as to what island this guide is for? 😉

Lunar Colony walkthrough now available!

If you’re still stuck on our latest free Island, Lunar Colony, you’re in luck: You can now download the Lunar Colony guide in our official walkthrough app for FREE! The Lunar Colony guide is available now for Apple iOS devices, and will be available soon for Android devices.

If you have an iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad, download the updated Poptropica Tips & Tricks app from the App Store.

If you have an Android-powered phone or tablet, download the updated Poptropica & Tricks app from the Android Market.

Then, open it up and select your free Lunar Colony guide to download the guide — and then get to work!

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

I’m a little worried about the part in Captain Crawfish’s post where he says “our latest free Island”.  It’s the “free” part that gets to me.  The Creators aren’t going to make us start paying for islands, are they?!?!

Second on our little list of things I’m going to tell you about, is the release of a certain little island.  Super Villain Island was released to everyone yesterday (October 18th).  Here’s the trailer just for the sake of taking up some more room in this post.

Now, I knew that Poptropica is a really big online game.  But it turns out that it’s a lot bigger than I thought…  Check this out!

500,000,000 Poptropicans and counting!

It’s been a year of milestones for Poptropica. 5 years, 30 Islands, and now this: 500,000,000 characters created.

If Poptropica were a country, it would be the third biggest in the world. Thank you to everyone who is a part of Poptropica!

BLACK WIDOW

Wow.  500,000,000 Poptropicans created!  That’s pretty big!

What better way to celebrate that amazing thing than with something a little sweet?  And I don’t think you’re going to find anything sweeter than this up-and-coming-island whose info page was recently released.

So, like I’ve mentioned about a thousand times before, I’ve never read the book or seen the movies, so I have no idea what the storyline of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory actually is.  But, if it’s anything like the description on the info page, then it sounds pretty cool.

Here’s what the picture says: After years of silence, Willy Wonka’s magical chocolate factory is re-opening, and you’ve got a Golden Ticket.  But when a group of misbehaving kids threaten to destroy Wonka’s candy creations, he needs you to save the day.  Prepare to untangle a confectionary conundrum that’s full of sweet treats and sticky situations!

There are some also pictures on the info page.  You can recognize parts of the pictures from the Daily Pop Sneak Peeks.  Check them out!

There’s a downloadable wallpaper and poster available on the info page.  Here’s what the desktop wallpaper looks like:

And here’s what the printable poster looks like:

Both of those look pretty cool!

There’s are also links to buy the book and the movie on the info page.  As of right now, there isn’t a section about a Members-only bonus quest, so I don’t know if this is going to be the first island in a long time without one or if it’s just not up yet.  I’ll keep checking back and I’ll let you know, though.

If you want to see the info page for yourself, just click HERE to check it out!

That about wraps up this really long post of mine!  Hope you enjoyed it.

Poptropica Pop Quizzes: Updated

Everyone knows about the Pop Quiz feature in Poptropica.  You answer a question, it gets added to your profile, and you have one question a day… or at least you did until you ran out of questions.  And then you just sat there, waiting for your daily question, but no new questions were added.  That is, no new questions were added until the Creators updated them recently

Finally, a pop quiz you’ll enjoy

We’ve recently added dozens of new pop quizzes to Poptropica Friends. Now, you can share with the world even more of your unique personality — and learn more about your friends, too.

Taking pop quizzes is easy. Just log into your Poptropica account every day for a new quiz, and check out the “recent activity” tab to see what your friends have been up to.

I never knew that Captain Crawfish can climb trees! How do you do that with a peg leg? Very slowly, I guess.

All I can say is that it took the Creators long enough to add some more questions.

Two Posts That Have Nothing To Do With Each Other

I’ve haven’t been very active recently.  Sorry about that.  I’ve been alternating between being busy and lazy since the last time I posted.  I’ll try to be more active, though.

The Creators have been doing a lot of posts recently, but I’m only going to post the two that I think are the most important out of the ones that I’ve missed.  So, let’s start!

Fear is in the air

Halloween is coming up. It’s one of our favorite holidays. Nothing is more fun than dressing up in a costume, getting free candy, and —

–getting scared out of your wits!

Yikes, didn’t see that one coming.

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

Hmm… I don’t know whether this post is just a random post that the Creators do, or if it is a sneak peek.  I’m gonna go with sneak peek, though, since the background looks like something from the previews of the city-themed island.

On to the next post!

It’s official: Poptropicans love super villains!

Wow! We put up a poll last week asking players what their favorite new Island of the year is. Super Villain Island dominated the field, winning more than 50% of the vote! Of course, with more new Islands coming soon, we have to wonder if the results will hold through the end of 2012…

If you haven’t played Super Villain Island and want to see what all the fuss is about, you can wait one more week until it becomes available to everyone. Or, you can get Membership and play it today! You win either way.

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

I think out of S.O.S. Island, Vampire’s Curse Island, Twisted Thicket, Poptropolis Games, Wimpy Boardwalk, Lunar Colony, and Super Villain Island, I’d have to go with either Vampire’s Curse Island or Super Villain Island as my favorite island this year.  Which one/ones are your favorites?

Just a couple reminders before I end this post: first, if you want to get the Night Hare Costume, you have to get it before October 18th, cause that’s when early access for Super Villain Island ends; second, non-members prepare yourselves, Super Villain Island comes out to everybody October 18th, so make sure you are sitting by the computer then!
