Mall=New Clothes

Okay, terrible title.  But, who cares?

As you probably know by now, Night Watch Island came out for Members a few days ago.  And if you’ve played it, you might have noticed that there are some new costume pieces.  …Or, at least that’s what the Creators say…

Cat burglars everywhere!

Night Watch Island is available now for Poptropica Members, and one of the best things about it is how many new things are available for you to costumize. We’re talking tons of new costume pieces that anybody who plays Night Watch Island can get.

But there’s one costume that won’t be around forever: the Cat Burglar costume, available only in the Poptropica Store. It’s only for Poptropica Members, and it’s only around during Early Access for Night Watch Island!

If you don’t want to miss out on the Cat Burglar costume, or on being the first person you know to play Night Watch Island, then find out how to become a Member today!

Hopefully, those of you who have played Night Watch Island have noticed all these amazing new clothes and are enjoying them.  And, for once, this is a new feature that both members and non-members can fully enjoy.  So, if you’re a member, what are you waiting for, go out there and get customizing!

…Just ignore that last sentence.  That was my failed attempt at ending a post successfully for once.

Before I completely end this post, there are a few things that I need to tell you about.  First, is that I’m going to add the Zomberry Island guide and Night Watch Island guide (both of which written by Samwow5) really soon.  It might be a few days, but I promise I’ll get around to it!  And, secondly, I’m working on a post that basically is about all of the important things that happened while I was gone.  I’m in the middle of that, so I should be done with it pretty soon.  Check back soon, and you’ll probably (more like hopefully) see them up!

Zombie Stuff Galore, Provided By Zomberry Island

(First off, I want to say sorry for not posting in awhile.  I know, I know, I really need to quit not posting, it’s just that life keeps getting in the way.  Hopefully I can really mean it when I say that I’m going to try really hard to start posting more often.  I want to thank my awesome authors for keeping this blog pretty much updated while I was gone.  You guys rock! :D)

The weather’s gotten colder, snow’s started falling on the blogs, Christmas music is playing on the radio, beautiful lights sparkle on the Christmas trees, all while Poptropicans are getting ready for a Zombie/Fruit themed island.

The newest island has been announced (check out this post)!  This island’s trouble seems to be one of the weirdest of all.  Instead of normal things like crazy rabbits or ghosts, we have to deal with a city that has had an outbreak of Poptropicans-turned-zombies.  Very, very weird.

A couple of treats are out for all the zombie-lovers out there.  The first one is two printable posters from the Zomberry Island info-page.

Get your Zomberry Island printable posters!

We’ve whipped up a couple of Zomberry Island posters for your printing pleasure. Here’s a look at them both:

To download the hi-res, printable versions of these posters, visit the all-new Zomberry Island info page!

You’ll also find more info about the storyline, bonus quest, and other great extras.

The “you are what you eat” poster gave me an idea about how the Poptropicans turned into zombies.  Maybe, some evil villain somehow snuck a bunch of fruit into the city, and the Poptropicans ate them.  The fruit had something on it or in it that ended up turning the Poptropicans into zombies.  I know, it’s not the best idea in the world, but, somehow, with an island like this it doesn’t seem too unlikely.

On closer inspection, you can see all the writing at the bottom of the “you are what you eat” poster is like the writing on a movie poster.  Here’s a picture.

Zomberry Island

Do you recognize any names?  I bet the names in the “starring” section are some of the characters in Zomberry Island.  I can’t wait to see what these stars look like.

Anyway, the second treat is two comics promoting Zomberry Island.  According to the Creators, they will be telling about how this outbreak began.  And reading this is probably how I got my “idea” about how the Poptropicans turned into zombies…

Last but not least, I thought that I would do my usual little bit about the info-page.  So, here we go!

Zomberry Island Picture #1

First off the description of the island.  Now, normally, I would put up a picture of the description and then write the description underneath it.  But, WordPress has gone and changed on me.  Whenever I try to add a picture, it ends up at the top of the page.  So, I’m going to try and keep the pictures to a minimum.  Anyway, I’m just going to write the description this time.

One by one, the citizens of Eastman are mutating into something horrible.  Now, the city is quarantined, the survivors are trapped, and ghouls prowl the streets.  No one knows how the zombie outbreak began…but how it ends is up to you!

And, just like all of the recent islands, this island has a members-only bonus quest.  Here’s the description for the quest.

The zombie threat has been contained, but more danger lurks beneath the streets of Eastman.  To prevent an even greater outbreak, you’ll need to venture into the sewers with only a flashlight…and your wits!

…I’m not sure what to think about that one…  Everything sounded great until it got to the sewer part.  I don’t know if I want to spend the holidays exploring a sewer…

Along with the bonus quest, members get a special Zomberry Island gear pack.

Zomberry Island Picture #3

The pack is made up of the Big Blue power, the ZMB Unit costume, and the Safety Flare item.  Anyone who wants the ZMB costume, remember that it is only available during the early release time, so make sure that you have membership!

You already saw the two downloadable posters from the info-page in the Creators’ post above, but you haven’t seen the downloadable wallpaper yet.  So, without further ado, take a look!

Zomberry Island Picture #4

It looks pretty cool…if you like zombies, that is…

Last but not least, the info-page has some pictures of Zomberry Island.  So, why don’t you take a look at them?

Zomberry Island Picture #8

That’s it for now.  I hope you enjoyed this little zombie-fest-of-a-post!  Hopefully there will be more news about this somewhat creepy island soon!  I have nothing left to say except happy early holidays, merry Christmas, and make sure you listen to plenty of Christmas music!

Exit: Vampire Count and Countess

Edit: I re-read the post after I wrote it, and I realized that I accidentally said that Vampire’s Curse Island is now out for non-members, when I meant that it would be out next Thursday.  I’m so sorry if you got excited by reading the post and then found out that Vampire’s Curse Island actually isn’t out yet.  If that happened, you have every right to throw a tomato at me.  Brave Tomato will provide the tomatoes.  And, again, I’m so, so sorry!

If you love the Vampire Count or, if you are a girl, the Vampire Countess, you better hurry up and get membership before next Thursday.  That’s when the Vampire Count and Countess will be exciting Poptropica to go where all of the once-was-but-isn’t-anymore stuff from Poptropica go to.  Where that is, nobody knows.  The point is Early Access for Vampire’s Curse Island is almost over, and when that ends, so does the time that you can get the costume.

Now, some of you might have put two and two together at that moment and realized what that means.  But for those of you that didn’t (and don’t worry if you didn’t realize what that means, I probably wouldn’t have, either), I am going to tell you.  Early Access for Vampire’s Curse Island ending means that……………………………………………………… guessed it………………………………………………………Vampire’s Curse Island is going to be available for non-members next Thursday, the 22nd.

Here’s what the Creators have to say about this:

One week left to get your Vampire Count costume!

Vampire’s Curse Island will be open to everyone next Thursday, March 22. But as the Curse giveth, the Curse taketh away — the Members-only Vampire Count costume will be gone from the Poptropica Store on the same day!

The only way to get the Vampire Count costume is to become a Poptropica Member before next Thursday, then visit the Store to claim your costume. And if you do that, you can play all of Vampire’s Curse Island before everyone else! It’s win-win.

I wish Black Widow would explain how that is a “win-win”.  I mean you have to save up all that money; either go online and try to figure out how to buy it from there, or drive to a Target or something like that to buy a game card; get maybe 6 days of Early Access; and get a costume that, no offense to anyone who likes the costume, is sort of…ugly.

All that just for a costume…

No Need for Oxygen, But a Need for a Memory Refreshment

The Creators recently did a post about something…that…they…already…told…us!  Very exciting! *rolls eyes*

Poptropica Tips and Tricks: More oxygen on S.O.S. Island

Thanks to a few new features on Poptropica, it turns out that you can play S.O.S. Island in a whole new way, if you just follow a couple of easy steps.

First, play through the bonus quest. When you do, you’ll get a deep-sea diving suit that lets you stay underwater for much longer than usual. Next, restart the Island while you’re still wearing the diving suit.

Now, when you start playing the primary quest again, you’ll have way more oxygen, and can spend more time exploring the depths! You can even play a little ditty on the piano, as in the picture above.

There’s always more to explore on Poptropica, so get out there and dive deep!

The Creators need a refresh button for their memories.  That way, they won’t get us all excited thinking that there’s something new and cool, but then it turns out to be something that we already know and have known for a super long time!  Gosh, Creators, you really need to improve…something…

Yay! I’m going to the bea- AAAH! Why am I a ball?!

Ok… I thought I was going to the beach… But no. I’m a beach ball now! *cries* Wait a second… now I’m not! It was just a costume! Yayayayay! I wonder why the Creators’ haven’t made a post yet. Usually they would’ve already tried to make any nonmember/creditless person bad, and force them to get the costume… Ah well. I’ve just posted this. This is what the costume look likes. It has three colors. It reminds me of one of my teachers….

All about Red Dragon Island

Sorry I haven’t been posting lately (I really need to start posting more)!  To make up for it, here are 4 posts from the Poptropica Creators’ Blog that all have at least a little bit to do with Red Dragon Island.

Memoirs of a Poptropica costume

Looking through the store, it seems there are even more Japanese-inspired costumes that can get you geared up for the upcoming launch of Red Dragon Island. This Geisha costume for girls comes with a special item.

The Shamisen is a traditional three-stringed instrument found in Japan, which is a speciality of the Geisha. Put on this costume and press the spacebar to strum your Shamisen. Then sing yourself a happy tune as you await Red Dragon Island.

Go climb a tree

What do you suppose is happening here?

I’ve never seen a Poptropican do that before…

Traveling salesman

The sneak preview of Red Dragon Island just keeps getting better. Now it’s easier than ever for Poptropica Members to get your Midnight Red Ninja costume. Just pick it up at the kiosk next to the ring!

Now that’s what I call customer service.

New in the Poptropica store

New in the Poptropica Store: the Midnight Red Ninja costume!

This new ninja costume is inspired by the upcoming Red Dragon Island. The Midnight Red Ninja outfit is available exclusively to Poptropica Members.

All Poptropicans can also pick up two classic Japanese-inspired costumes: the original Midnight Ninja, and the Samurai.

Cool, huh?

I… wait. I, uh, mean Yokozuna. It’s an easy mistake. I didn’t say that because the Yokozuna wrestler looks like an old lady. Why would you even suggest that?
Monday, April 11, 2011
If you’ve tried the sneak preview of Red Dragon Island, then you’ve probably had a chance to see the prizes that are up for grabs as you progress through the Sumo tournament. All players can move up one rank, and earn a special outfit and facepaint set for becoming a Maegashira.

There are higher ranks to earn, and better prizes to win! Those hardy Poptropica Members who earn promotion to the highest rank of Yokozuna will get this special prize:

Besides the fancy duds, only those who have earned the rank of Yokozuna will get the special “Sumo stomp” ability.

So what are you waiting for? If you’re a Members and haven’t become a champion yet, now’s your time! And if you’re not yet a Member, there’s still time to become one, and get these exclusive goodies before the Early Access launch of Red Dragon Island.

New Page, Costumes

I just added a new page called Costumes.  Like you can probably guess from what it’s called, it is about costumes for your Poptropican.  On the page, you can leave a comment with a picture of one of your costumes, along with some information about it.  If you leave a comment, make sure that the costume is your idea, and not another costume that someone else made up.  If you want to know more about the page, why don’t you go to the page itself?  Right now, there are no costumes on the page.  If you leave a comment soon, you may just be the first person to have their costume up there!

Tips and Tricks for Costumes

Here is another post from Black Widow, giving you tips and tricks for your costumes, though, most of us know this already.

Costume quest

You fashionistas out there already know that there are hundreds of outfits on Poptropica that you can costumize on Islands, or buy in the Store. And there are thousands of possible costume combinations that you can put together when you combine pieces from them all.

All those accessories can be hard to hold onto. Here are a few tricks for keeping around your favorite ensembles.

The Costume Collector Gold Card is available in the Poptropica store. It’s free to use for Members, or 250 Credits for non-Members. With the Costume Collector, you can store up to three of your costumes exactly as they are, so you don’t have to worry about having to put them all together again later.

The Portrait Printer, also in the Store free for Members and 250 Credits for non-Members, lets you immortalize your greatest fashion creations on paper. You can pose your Poptropican, add one of several backgrounds, and then print it out for all to see!

Finally, all Members and non-Members with a Poptropica username can use the Avatar Studio to save a picture of their current look and share it with the world. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and play dress up!

Really, Creators, don’t you think we know that already?

Cryptids Island Trailer and a Bigfoot Buddy!

Just in case you didn’t know, Cryptids Island will come out to non-members on January 17, 2011.  Here is a cool trailer that is on the Cryptids Island Info Page.

Also, here is a post from Master Mime, telling about a new costume that is in the Poptropica Store, called Bigfoot Fanatic.

My Bigfoot Buddy

My new Bigfoot buddy goes everywhere I go.

Right now we are gazing at a lovely shrub that is in the shape of the Loch Ness Monster. You can go pick up a small, furry friend like mine at the store. Look for the Big Foot Fanatic outfit.

He is the perfect thing to keep your head warm when you search for the Yeti in the cold, mountain blizzards.

The Bigfoot Fanatic Costume costs 100 credits, so I would only get it if I was a member, or if I really loved Bigfoot.
