Game Show Island

Robots have taken over Poptropica! Humans are now the servants of machines! The robots are all following a robot named Holmes. It’s up to you to try and save the citizens of Poptropica from this horrible fate. Can humans and robots work together in peace, or are humans doomed to be slaves forever?

Meeting The Inventor and Getting a Jet

Go to Game Show Island if you aren’t already there. You will find yourself on Main Street.

Go to the left until you are in front of the Robo-Bling Boutique. Jump up to the top of the building.

You will find a toolkit on top of the building. Go over to the toolkit to get it.

Jump off of the building, and go to the left. You will find yourself in a place called the Factory Exterior. Go to the left and enter the factory.

If you talk the worker with the ponytail, she will tell you that if they don’t get the conveyor belt moving soon they will be in big trouble with Holmes.

Go to the left, jump up onto the big thing that looks like a metal box full of gears and stuff, and jump onto the platform that is to the right.

Go to the right and jump up onto the giant crane that is there. There is a box to the right of the crane that has the crane’s controls on it. Click on and hold the green arrow that is pointing upward until you see another box that is identical to the first box.

The box will be on a platform to your left. Jump onto the platform.

Go to the left and you will see a computer. Click on the computer. You will make a metal wall that is on another platform that is above and to your right go up.

Jump back onto the crane. Click and hold the green arrow on the box to your left. Hold it until you can jump onto the platform where the wall went up. Jump onto the platform.

Go over to the right until you are in front of some boxes and levers that control the power. Click on any of the boxes or levers, and your Poptropican will say that the main power box is screwed shut.

Go to your items, find the toolbox, and use it. You will be brought to a screen where you can unscrew the box’s cover. Here’s how to use the screwdriver: move it over a screw, click and hold it to insert it into the screw, and turn it counterclockwise.

Once the box’s cover falls off, click the switch that is labeled “Robo-Factory”. You will flick the switch and the power will come on. The gears by the conveyor belts will begin to turn, and then the conveyor belts will begin to turn as well. You will go back down to where the workers are standing.

A worker with red hair will talk to you. She will tell you to take a fan. She will also tell you to be careful, because the fan can be pretty powerful. The fan will go to your items.

Exit the factory and go back to Main Street.

When you are back on Main Street, go to the right until you are in front of a place called the Club Nouveau Riche. Click on the big robot that is standing by the doors of the building. He will tell you that it is about time that you got there with your tools. He will tell you to get in the building and fix the air conditioner.

Enter the building.

Go to the right until you see a purple robot. Click on the robot to talk to him. He will tell you that he is the club owner. When you tell him that it is pretty hot in there, the club owner will ask you if you are there to fix the air conditioner. You will tell him that you will see what you can do, and he will reply by saying that if you cool him down he will “make it worth your while”.

Go to your items, find the fan, and equip yourself with it. Point the fan at the club owner. Click and hold to make the fan turn. When you stop the fan, the club owner will give you a nickel. To the fan out of your hand, click the thing at the bottom left-hand corner of your screen that says “Turn off fan”.

Exit the club. Go back to the Factory Exterior. Go left until you see a man standing in front of a sort of makeshift house. If you talk to the man he will tell you that he was once a world-famous game show champion, but that now he is just a guy wishing that he had a nickel to buy some soap. Go to your items, find the nickel, and use it. The man will thank you for the nickel and he will give you a pair of goggles that he found. He will tell you that he isn’t sure what they do. The Heat Vision Goggles will go to your items. The man will walk away to go buy some soap.

Go back to Main Street. Walk over to the Club Nouveau Riche and go inside it. Go to your items, find the Heat Vision Goggles, and use them. Aim the goggles straight up. You will see that someone is inside a vent shaft. While you are watching, the person will jump up the vent shaft. Click when you are done using the Heat Vision Goggles.

Exit the club.

If you jump you will see that there is a window with orange bars across it that is on the right side of the club. You can’t reach it by jumping there, though. Go to your items, find the Electric Fan, and equip yourself with it. Point the fan in the opposite direction that you want to go in, click and hold, and the fan will blow you into the air. Steer yourself over to the window.

Once you reach the window, go to your items, find the toolbox, and use it. A screen will appear where you can unscrew the bars on the window.

Once you have unscrewed the bars, enter the building through the window.

You will see that a cord on the air conditioner is broken. Suddenly, by the air conditioner, a man who looks like a professor or a doctor will appear. He will ask you how you got in there. You will tell him that you are there to help. The man will tell you that he doesn’t believe you, and that you are probably one of Holmes’s henchmen in a human disguise. He will run off, but as he runs off he will step on some boards. The boards will break behind him, dropping something so that the path that he took is blocked.

There are two platforms to your right. Jump onto the top one and go to the right. There will be a phonograph or record player thing in your path. Push it to the right until it goes into a compartment that will fall down when you push the record player into it. Jump down onto the compartment and go to the right. The professor will be on another platform. He will push a globe down to where you are standing. The globe will break the part of the floor that you are standing on and you will drop down another level.

Got to the right until you see a rope. Climb up the rope and jump down onto the platform. Go to the left. Go up the ladder and go to the door that has the sign that says “Roof Access”. If you click on the pad where there are lots of buttons, your Poptropican will say that you don’t know the combination, but that the professor’s body heat might still be on the buttons. Go to your items, find the Heat Vision Goggles. You will be brought to a screen where you will be able to push the buttons. There will be different colors on some of the buttons. Push the buttons in this order: blue, green, yellow, red, and finally press the button that says “Enter”. The door will open and you will go onto the roof.

The professor will tell you that he didn’t think anyone had the brains to figure out how to catch him. He will ask you if you are going to turn him over to Holmes. You will tell him that you aren’t going to turn him in and that you want to help. You will ask him if he is really a greedy thief like Holmes says he is. He will tell you that you have only heard one side of the story. He will tell you to take a look at his UPAD.

There will be a little movie shown where the professor is talking about Holmes. He will basically say that he hopes that working with Holmes and other robots like him, humans would be able to enjoy a better life.

The professor will tell you that things didn’t work out as he had hoped. You will ask him if there is anything that you could do to help. The professor will tell you that humans have lost hope, but that if you could become a game show champion, all of that might change. You will ask him how you will get on the show, and the professor will give you a Jet Remote Control.

Go to your items, find the Jet Remote Control, and use it. A jet will appear. Go inside the jet. Each place that you can go to has a game show that you can do. You can do them in any order you want to.

Istanbul-Scaredy Pants

Click on the button that says Istanbul.

You will find yourself in a outdoor market sort of place.

Go to the right until you see a staircase that leads to a building. There is a sign in front of the staircase. Jump up onto the sign and, from there, jump onto the building. Go to the right until you see a man. Click on the man to talk to him. He will tell you that he is in big trouble, because he was in charge of rebuilding the minarets of the Hagai Sophia. He will tell you that he accidentally put one in the wrong place. He will also tell you that the second minaret is supposed to be on the fourth pedestal, not the second one. The man will ask you to fix it.

Move the pieces in this order: move the blue piece to the third podium, the small orange piece to the fourth podium, the blue piece to the fourth podium, the tan piece to the third podium, the blue piece to the second podium, the small orange piece to the third podium, the blue piece to the third podium, the big orange piece to the fourth podium, the blue piece to the second podium, the small orange piece to the fourth podium, the blue piece to the fourth podium, the tan piece to the second podium, the blue piece to the second podium, the small orange piece to the third podium, the blue piece to the third podium, the tan piece to the fourth podium, the blue piece to the second podium, the small orange piece to the fourth podium, and the blue piece to the fourth podium.

Once you have fixed the minaret, the man will give you his ticket to compete on Scaredy Pants.

Go to your items, find the Scaredy Pants Ticket, and press the button that says “Play Game Show”.

Here’s how the three different rounds work:

Round 1: The goal of Round 1 is to swim through the maze, get the glowstick, and bring it back to the starting point faster than anyone else. Make sure that you don’t get shocked by the sea creatures, though. If you do, you’ll float downward and loose some time.

Round 2: The goal of Round 2 is to sort the different animals into their separate bins faster than anyone else. Just try to go ask fast as you can, but try to stay calm at the same time.

Round 3: The goal of Round 3 is to go across the tightrope without falling down. Just try and balance, and you can push a bit more forward when a fan is blowing on you. Try and get across using as few of your turns as possible.

It might take awhile to beat the game show, but don’t give up, you’ll get it eventually.

Once you beat the game show, you’ll find yourself on the sidewalk below the building where you fixed the minaret. Go to your items, find the Jet Remote Control, and use it. Go inside the jet.

Miami-Spin for Riches

Press the button that says “Miami”.

You’ll end up on a boat. Go to the right, jump off of the boat, and keep going right until you see a pink robot and a blue robot facing each other. Click on one of the robots to hear what they are saying. The pink robot, Ventana, will get mad at the blue robot for replacing her with another robot. She will then walk away.

Click on the blue robot to talk to him. He will tell you that he had replaced his cohost with a newer robot. Now, the old cohost was threatening to destroy the show’s prizes. He will ask you to find a way to get the prizes back to him safely.

The pink robot will then begin dropping prizes from the windows of the building. Tilt the awnings of the buildings by jumping on them until they drop safely down to the blue robot below.

Once all three prizes have been saved, the blue robot will give you a ticket to the game show Spin for Riches to thank you.

Go to your items, find the game show’s ticket, and press the button that says “Play Game Show”.

Here’s how the game show works: there are three rounds. Each round you have to guess what the word or phrase is. You can spin a wheel to hopefully land on a letter that is in the phrase, or, if you think you know what the phrase is, you can press the button that says “Solve” and you can drag letters to their places. I would suggest sticking with spinning the wheel unless you are almost positive that you know what the phrase is.

If you get the most points at the end, then you win the contest.

Once you win, you will find yourself on one of the awnings of the building where you had to save the contest’s prizes.

Go to your items, find the Jet Remote Control, and use it. Enter the jet.

Buenos Aires-Kerplunk

Press the button that says Buenos Aires.

You will find yourself on top of an electricity-box-thing.

Jump down from the box. Keep jumping down until you get to the ground. Go right (or left, depending on which way you jumped down) until you see a guy with a sort of half of a piece of ravioli hat. Talk to him. He will tell you that he wishes that someone would fix the clock.

Go to the left until you see a dial sort of thing (that’s what controls the clock). Click on the dial. Your Poptropican will say that you aren’t strong enough to turn the rings on the dial. A big robot to your left will offer to turn the rings for you.

The goal is to turn the rings so that the pieces form a single cable. I’m going to call the wheels, going from the outside to the inside, A, B, C, and the center is D. Click on the rings in this order: A, C, and B. The cable will become whole, the power will turn on, and the big robot will give you his ticket to the game show Kerplunk.

Go to your items, find the ticket for Kerplunk, and press the button that says “Play Game Show”.

Here’s how Kerplunk works: there are three rounds, each round you have to get through an obstacle course faster than anyone else, and whoever has the overall lowest time wins. Kerplunk is actually pretty easy, so it shouldn’t take too long to beat it.

Once you have won, you’ll end up on the street where you fixed the clock.

Go to your items, find the Jet Remote Control, and use it. Enter the jet.

Moscow- Brainiacs

Press the button that says “Moscow”. You’ll find yourself on the top of a building. Jump off of the building, and go to the right until you see a yellow robot that looks like he has a piece of ice stuck in his head. Click on the robot to talk to him. He will tell you that his boss can’t land until he gives the all-clear signal, but that he got hit by a piece of ice and can’t remember the code. He will tell you that he would remember the code if he saw it, and he will tell you to try and guess it and he will tell you if it is right or not.

The building that the robot is floating in front of has a rows of four windows with a switch that you can turn beside it. Click on the windows to change the colors, and turn the switch when you think that you might have the right combination. A green light will appear underneath the windows that are correct, and a red light will appear underneath the windows that are incorrect. Keep the correct windows the same and change the incorrect windows.

There isn’t much to tell you that can help with this. Just keep trying until you get it right!

Once you guess the signal, the helicopter will land. Climb up to the top of the building and talk to the robot with a mustache. He will give you a ticket to the game show Brainiacs. Go to your items, find the Brainiacs Ticket, and press the button that says “Play Game Show”.

Here’s how Brainiacs works: you choose a question, try to pick the right answer, and buzz in before anyone else. If you get the question right then you get that amount of money added to your score. If you get it wrong you get that amount of money subtracted from your score. The goal is to get the highest final score. It shouldn’t be too hard. Just try to stick to categories that you know about when you are picking your question.

Once you win, you will end up on the street where you helped the yellow robot. Go to your items, find the Jet Remote Control, and use it. Enter your jet. Click on the button that says “Tokyo”.

Tokyo-Mr. Yoshi’s Super Terrific Challenge!

You will find yourself standing on top of a streetlight sort of thing. Jump down to the ground, and go to the right until you see a robot who is wearing a cowboy hat and standing in front of a pink and gray building. If you talk to the robot he will tell you that the TV screen isn’t working.

If you look at the building that the cowboy robot is standing in front of, you will see a blue door that has a wrench and something that looks like a lightning bolt on it. Click on the door to enter the building through the service entrance. You will be brought to a screen where your instructions are to click on the pieces of the circuit to make a complete path. There isn’t much else to say, except that you have to do it before the blue line catches up with you.

Once you are done, a little thing will pop up that says “YOU WON! Now the citizens of Tokyo can watch Mr. Yoshi’s Super Terrific Challenge.”

Once you get out of that screen, robots will start congratulating you on fixing the power. Suddenly, Mr. Yoshi will appear on the TV screen. He will say that he is in need of amusement and that he needs a contestant for tonight’s show. He will tell you that if you think you can please the city’s favorite celebrity, then you should go to the television studio immediately. A robot will tell you that you should be on the show. The robot will give you a ticket to the game show.

Go to your items, find the ticket to “Mr. Yoshi’s Super Terrific Challenge!”, and press the button that says “Play Game Show”.

Here’s how Mr. Yoshi’s Super Terrific Challenge works: there are three rounds, or tasks. Each task you do something different. If Mr. Yoshi is amused after each task, you win the game. If he’s not amused after any task, you will be dismissed from the show. Oh, and you are dressed in ridiculous looking costumes for each tasks.

Once you have won, exit the television studio. You will find yourself back in front of the pink and gray building.

Go to your items, find the Jet Remote Control, and use it. Enter the jet.

There will be a message on the jet’s screen. This is what it says: Meet me on Main Street right away! Be careful, Holmes is looking for you. -The Inventor

Press the button on the jet that says “Main Street”.

Completing the Island

You will find yourself on the top of a building on Main Street, below you, Holmes will appear on the TV. He will order all robots to “find and apprehend” you. Next to the TV that Holmes is on, someone, probably the Inventor, will whisper to you from under the safety of a manhole.

You have to get to the manhole without Holmes or any of the other robots seeing you. To do that, jump onto the roof of the building next to you. Walk all the way to the right edge, jump down to the ground from there, and go over to the manhole. Go down the manhole.

You will find yourself in a sort of tunnel, standing next to the Inventor. The Inventor will tell you that you are in Holmes’s inner sanctum, where he commands all the other robots. The Inventor will also tell you that Holmes has set up an advanced security system, but that the Inventor can’t crack it. He will tell you that maybe you can.

The Inventor will give you a Thumb Drive that contains a code to upload to Holmes that should reprogram him and end the robot menace.

Go to the left until you are in front of a big computer. Click on the computer. You will be brought to a screen where you need to solve the puzzle so that the pieces connect to form one line. But, the trick is they can only connect to a piece that has the same color where the two pieces would join. There’s not much to say that can help you with the puzzle, it changes every time. Just don’t get frustrated, you’ll get it eventually. If you just can’t get it, try closing the screen and then clicking on the computer again. The puzzle will change and maybe you’ll be able to solve the new one easier.

Once you solve the puzzle, a wheel will rotate, letting you go on, but blocking the way you came. A police robot will come and begin trying to weld through the wheel. Holmes will appear on the computer screen and he will begin talking to you, telling you that all of your prize money belongs to him.

Go to the left until you see another computer. Solve the puzzle like you did the one before.

Once you complete the puzzle, a hatch will open to your left and Holmes will appear on the computer screen. He will try to convince you to work out a deal with him.

Go down the hatch, down the ladder, and to the right until you see another computer. You will have to solve yet again another puzzle.

Once you complete the puzzle, another hatch will open to your right and Holmes will appear on the computer screen, still trying to get you to make a deal with him.

Go down the hatch, down the ladder, and to the left until you see another computer. Solve the puzzle, and yet again, another hatch will appear and Holmes will appear on the computer.

Go down the hatch, and you’ll see Holmes, a small, old-fashioned looking computer. Go down the ladder and walk up to Holmes.

Go to your items, find the Thumb Drive, and use it. You will plug it into Holmes, and he will begin saying random things like “Mary had a little lamb”.

Once the upgrade is done, Holmes will say that maybe humans and robots can work together after all. The Inventor will appear, thanking you. He will give you the island medallion and 50 Poptropica Credits to use in the Store.

Congratulations! You’ve completed Game Show Island!
