The Travelouge of a Crawfish

Believe it or not, we’re only a week away from opening Steamworks Island to everyone! During the Early Access period, I’ve ventured away from Skullduggery Island to explore the mysteries of Steamworks.
Lucky for you, I took pictures! Settle in for a vacation slideshow like you’ve never seen. And no talking until I’m done.
One of the great things about Steamworks Island is how many different ways there are to get around. You might overlook this little bit of simple machinery on first glance.

But look what happens when you stand on it and start running!

It takes you all the way up the thread of the screw.

I know there’s a mystery to solve on Steamworks Island, but I was having too much fun with this. As it turns out, that was a recurring theme of my trip.

I am so HAPPY!  I can finally play on Steamworks Island, in one week!

If you have been to this blog before, you have probably seen (or read) about a post where I said I was looking for authors.  Well, I’m going to add a page where you can apply to become an author.  Also, don’t forget to check out my Suggestions page, where you can leave a comment, telling a suggestions for my blog.  If I choose your comment as one of my top-favorite comments, you will have your name announced in a post congratulating you and telling what your suggestion was.  Also, if you want, you can leave a comment saying a little bit about yourself and (if you have one) a little bit about your blog or website.  If you do that, I will write a small post about you with a link to your blog!  If you are interested, don’t forget to check out the Suggestions page!

Express yourself!

Here is the Poptropica Creators’ two newest posts.  They tell how you can express yourself in Poptropica.

Today we added a new Gold Card item to the store. It’s called Smiley Potion. Use it like the Love Potion. You can choose one of three smiley faces to attach to another Poptropican or even yourself.
I decided to put on a disguise and try it out on Spy Island. Yeah, I know. I’m pretty smooth.

You probably already know that when you’re in a multiplayer room on Poptropica, you can click the emote buttons on the side of the screen to make your character smile, cry, pout, and jump for joy. Did you know you can also do these elsewhere in the game?
A simple keyboard combination will allow you to use any of the emotes during your adventures, which lets your character react to the story as it happens.
Press Ctrl+Shift+1 to laugh at pompous jerks.
Press Ctrl+Shift+2 to cry when you receive bad news.

Press Ctrl+Shift+3 to blow your stack at a faun who’s giving you guff.

And press Ctrl+Shift+4 to celebrate getting a new item.
That’s not all! You can combine some of these emotes to create brand-new ones that you won’t see in any common room. First, start the angry emote by pressing Ctrl+Shift+3. Once your character’s face is red, but before his head pops off, enter either the happy or the sad emote!

Everyone will think you’ve spent too much time in the sun. Sunscreen, people!

I hope that helps anyone who feels the need to express themselves! 😉

Dial-A-Costume

The Creators’ newest post tells you what numbers to dial in your cell phone from Nabooti Island to get different hats and faces.

In Nabooti Island, one of the items you acquire to help complete your quest is a cell phone. Did you know that you can also use it for fun?
First, go to the Mountains of the Moon and enter the cave at the top of the mountain. Pick up the cell phone in the bottom left corner of the cave. Then, start dialing for costumes!
Dialing “911” will get you this lovely police hat.
In real life, you dial “411” to get information. In Poptropica, you dial it so that you can get a brain that already has all the information.
If you’re looking to impress your friends with your incredible computer sk1llz, this next costume is for you. Dial “1337” for these elite threads.
That looks spectacular with the brain hair. I sense a fashion trend!

Well, if you want any of those hats, start dialing as fast as you can!

Pest Control

If you want to know how to squish that crab on the beach of Time Tangled Island or how to smash those cockroaches in Bucky’s hotel room on Reality TV island, than read the Creators’ newest post.

This week we’re going to be sharing some neat tips and tricks to help you get a little more from Poptropica. We’ve hidden a lot of fun easter eggs in the game. You may have found some already!
Have you ever noticed how many of the background objects in Poptropica are interactive? Sometimes even more than you’d think. Take the crab that’s crawling around the first screen of Time Tangled Island.
He certainly looks mopey. But he’ll look even more mopey if you click on him.
See how he gets squished? Well, just see what happens if you keep clicking on him real fast!
Yikes! He explodes. Your Poptropican has to dodge the debris.
Don’t worry, though: he’ll come back together and be good as new in no time.
The same cannot be said for the roaches that infest Bucky’s hotel room on Reality TV Island.
Those little buggers move fast. If you can catch up with them, here’s what happens:
If you leave the room and come back inside, they’ll be ready to be squashed all over again.
Have you found any more clickable objects in Poptropica?

Personally I don’t want to go around squishing pests all day, but if you do, I hope you have fun! 😉
